Creative Activism Thursdays Presents

Stephen Duncombe, October 11th, 2012 at 7PM

RSVP

Join us for an overview of (mainly) US activism: American Revolution, Labor Movement, Civil Rights, Black Power, Feminism, ACT-UP and Occupy, seen through the lens of creative activism, using each historical moment to teach take-away lessons that present-day activists can use in their work. Stephen Duncombe is an Associate Professor at the Gallatin School and the Department of Media, Culture and Communications of NYU where he teaches the history and politics of media. He writes on the intersection of culture and politics for a range of scholarly and popular publications. A life-long political activist, in 2009 he was a Research Associate at the Eyebeam Center for Art and Technology in NYC where he helped organize The College of Tactical Culture. He co-organized and taught the School for Creative Activism in 2011, and he is presently co-founder and director of the new Center for Artistic Activism.
