Ideas To Action Exercise

Ideas to Action

People move through multiple stages when changing their behavior. We’ll practice developing tactics to address one step.

STEP 1: Roll the Dice

4 minutes

Say hello and get to know each other.

Roll your dice

  1. Exposure (roll again)
  2. Attention
  3. Interest
  4. Comprehension
  5. Skill Acquisition
  6. Agreement (roll again)
  7. Recall
  8. Information Search & Retrieval
  9. Decision
  10. Behavior (roll again)
  11. Reinforcement
  12. Identity

STEP 2: Brainstorm Tactics

20 minutes

Keeping the objective/behavior the group chose in mind, brainstorm tactics that address the step your rolled. For example, if the behavior you wanted to cultivate was gardening and you rolled a 5, or skill acquisition, then you’d brainstorm tactics that would help your audience acquire the skills needed for gardening.

Helpful Hints:

  • Write down all your ideas, good and “bad”.
  • Use others ideas as starting points to build off for different tactics

STEP 3: List your ideas

5 minutes

Write up your ideas on a large sheet of paper. Prepare to present your ideas to the group
