Lead Smarter. Work Lighter. Win More.
In today’s advocacy landscape, pressure is high, stakes are rising, and old strategies just aren’t cutting it. Within organizations, burnout is real, resources are tight, and the path to impact can feel unclear. But the best leaders don’t wait for change — they lead it.
The Innovation for Impact Leadership Intensive is a rare opportunity for advocacy leaders in the U.S. to access the tools, mindsets, and expert guidance needed to unlock creativity across their teams, spark bold new thinking, and launch campaigns that deliver results — faster, smarter, and with more impact.
This highly selective, practice-based leadership experience will equip you to design and implement transformative campaigns — using methods tested and proven over 15 years at the Center for Artistic Activism with some of the most successful movements in the world.
Four Impact Leaders will be selected for this Fall 2025 cohort. If chosen, you’ll bring the seed of a new campaign from your organization and use the program to sharpen your strategy, reignite your team, and break through barriers holding you back.
Read the program details below and apply by July 29th.

What you’ll gain
Expert Tools to Work Smarter
Start with an in-person retreat (Sept 7-10) where you’ll learn how to harness the creative process to solve strategic challenges, motivate your audience, prototype powerful ideas, and drive your team forward with clarity and momentum.
1:1 Coaching & Peer Power
After the retreat, we’ll work closely with you to apply these tools to your live campaign through monthly coaching and strategy sessions. You’ll also join a tight-knit cohort of Impact Leaders navigating similar challenges — swapping breakthroughs, lessons, and support along the way.

Funding to Launch Your New Ideas
You’ll get up to $2,000 for initial implementation funding to test bold ideas without waiting on risk-averse funders. With expert coaching, you’ll test, refine and prove what works — and return with a scalable campaign funders can’t ignore.
Lasting Capacity for You & Your Organization
Wrap up with a guided evaluation process and planning sprint to ensure your organization walks away with sustainable systems, momentum, and confidence to keep going — long after the Intensive ends.
“I can say with absolute certainty that the training provided by the Center for Artistic Activism is the best training I’ve ever attended. The curriculum strikes the perfect balance of examples, frameworks, activities that were actually useful in live-time with my work (not just high minded ideals). I felt so inspired, energized, and could actively feel my worldview shifting and my theory of change evolving – in fully positive ways. I did not expect my work to be impacted as much as it was.” – Alexia Kemerling, Director of Accessible Democracy, American Association of People with Disabilities

Why this? Why now?
Because you’re leading in a moment that demands more — not more hours or stress, but more creativity, vision, and strategic clarity.
Innovation for Impact helps you fight burnout, unstick your team, and tap into a well of creative potential you didn’t know you had. You’ll leave with stronger leadership muscles, practical wins, and a campaign that actually moves the needle.

“Working on ten crises at any given time, it is easy to reuse the same tactics. The most powerful tool I took from C4AA was to prioritize creating a utopian vision, strategy, and very specific goals that will drive your work. This was all crucial in focusing our limited resources and creating tactics that would truly move the needle, rather than relying on tired traditions that don’t actually work well.” – Caroline Scown, Civic Engagement and Training Manager, Chinese-American Planning Council
Who should apply
Executive Directors, senior leaders, and strategy leads at U.S.-based advocacy organizations who:

- Want to break through campaign roadblocks
- Need fresh thinking to re-energize their team
- Are hungry to lead with imagination and impact
- Are ready to work differently — and win more

The Center for Artistic Activism is a 501c3 nonprofit. You do not need to be a c3 to apply — we work with all kinds of organizations. The campaign you focus on through the program does need to be c3-compliant. We can work with you on the intricacies of this.
Know a leader that should apply?
