In Albania, a group of activists saw corruption infecting their country’s education system. Degrees were being sold. Academic integrity was collapsing. People were frustrated but felt powerless.
Then, those activists joined a Center for Artistic Activism training.
And they got an idea.
They launched the University of Corrupted Sciences, a fake university awarding fake diplomas to real citizens, satirical symbols of the broken system. On the International Day of Education, they handed out certificates in public spaces, and TV hosts received them live on air.
It was funny. And it was serious.
This creative action did what traditional protests couldn’t:
It sparked conversation.
It engaged the press.
It made people care.

In the coming months, we hope to launch the How to Win series, in which we share stories of organizers who have built powerful movements in repressive regimes. These success stories are critical right now, to motivate and mobilize activists in the U.S. and beyond. We’ve trained thousands of artists and activists in 58 countries, and there are so many lessons from their work that need to be shared.

This month, we’ve been raising funds to support programs like How to Win.
Today, we’re just 20 gifts of $30 away from our goal!
Your gift could be one of the final sparks that powers the future of creative activism.
Let’s hit this goal together. Let’s fund the work that changes the game.
Every dollar you give helps bring strategy, creativity, and imagination to movements that need them most, especially right now.
Thank you for being in this with us,
