Join us as we partner with Project Pericles for a dynamic exploration of realistic, interactive ways to incorporate creativity and election engagement in your classes this fall semester. Delve into the powerful role creativity plays in unleashing and supporting civic engagement on campus – and leave with easy and practical tools to help you incorporate electoral engagement!

  • Demystifying the voting process
  • Helping students lead discussions on the issues they care about — and encouraging students to vote with those issues in mind
  • Working alongside their students to implement pro-voter artistic activism actions
  • Implementing key aspects of effective artistic activism, including developing SMARTIE objectives and prototyping their actions

FALL 2024 COURSES & DESCRIPTIONS

  • Kim Beck: Print for the People — Using photography and print techniques, like woodcut, silkscreen, and risograph, to boost voting and civic action
  • Margit Berman: Social Psychology — Applying social psychological theory and research to a social problem of their choice with an advocacy, civic engagement, and social justice lens
  • D.T. Burns: Playwriting 1 — Exploring ways to view outside activist actions as part of their performance playwriting
  • Abby Galvin and Gregory Sale: Art & Community — Producing a major socially engaged art project that addresses community issues
  • Brittney Harris: Introduction to Applied Collaborative Technique — Becoming “voter advocates” via community engagement activities and collective sharing in pre- and post-election care
  • Kristin Hughes: Your Vote, Your Future — Using design principles to deliver a flexible visual system that educates and inspires their peers to advocate for themselves, take action, and vote
  • Daniella Mascarenhas: Introduction to American Government — Developing SMARTIE objectives around issues they are passionate about and executing an action of their own
  • Susan Smith: Creative Concepts — Situating their art within the context of the socio-political environment through deep listening dialogue cafes, printmaking, and partnerships with community organizations
